This book is great for daycare, school and therapeutic use to start conversations on looking different than others. It teaches that it is okay to look different from other family members featuring real people with mixed heritage, blended families and adoptive family members. Written in poetic form, Unique Like Me playfully suggests that looking different makes a person “unique” but not odd, different but the same too. It reminds that everyone is unique in some way and unique is good. As it targets kindergarteners, daycare children and preschoolers, it intervenes right when identity issues begin to form: the early years.
